We, the undersigned, ask Mayor Tutunjian and the Troy City Council to reallocate portions of the $320,000 of Troy Redevelopment Foundation monies, now slated for use in advertising City events, for the hiring of more Code Enforcement Officers.
(Signers: Please sign this petition and pass the address along to concerned friends, neighbors and representatives!)
===============================================================
Background: From Mayor Tutunjians 2008 State of the City Speech, we quote:
"I am proud to announce tonight that the City of Troy, along with the Troy Redevelopment Foundation, have come to an agreement to fund a marketing and promotion campaign that will focus more than $320,000 in advertising on the City of Troy alone, and will not cost the taxpayers in Troy one penny."
=======================================================
We are in agreement to use part of the $320,000 to support advertising efforts but believe Code Enforcement is of greater need and concerns to Troys future.
We the undersigned would like part of the $320,000 to be used first to hire more Code Enforcement Officers.
We thank the Mayor and the City Council for the time and consideration in addressing our concerns.

- Keeping our city's structures in good repair is essential in preventing their demolition. Leaking roofs, broken windows, busted doors, and cracked foundations need to be fixed promptly. Identifying these problems is the first step.

- Troy would be a much more beautiful, visitor-friendly city if property owners and city code officials worked together to fix problems with properties, from foundations to ceilings and everything in between. Do we, as tax-paying, long-time residents of Troy, want the first impressions of this city to be that of boarded up, dangerous buildings where apathy runs rampant??

- I have no problem hiring more code enforcement officers but I also think that the current ones need to do a better job enforcing the code.
