"Let those that agree with the AVOCADO DECLARATION help protect and build the Green Party as a vehicle for democracy, freedom, liberty and justice for all."

So says the Avocado Declaration. The Declaration is a statement of the right of every American to support the Green Party, or any third party, if they so choose, as a fundamental aspect of our democracy. We cannot have a democracy if we do not have a free exchange of ideas within the context of an open, honest, and inclusive debate.

    • I love Peter's statement that "we need to welcome diversity." We must find a way to attract diversity of culture, and to respect diversity of opinions.

    • Good petition, but it dosen't clearly state the need for a Green candidacy, just the right to support the party, which isn't neccesarily in question...

    • This is one of the best pieces I read on why the Democrats are a lost cause - they are contolled by the corporations and will sell us out at every turn. I hope Peter will run for president to get these messages out to the largest audience possible

    • Many thanks to Camejo & the other authors of this statement for firmly establishing just cause. The struggle for multiparty democracy, while essential, will be painful for some 'friends' who subscribe to "get paid to play" politics. Further (non-violent) destruction of the Democratic Party's ability to deceive people can only be achieved by this kind of a clean break. I suggest that the success of the declaration will hinge on developing pluralism and acceptance of diversity within the Green Party, and fostering the rise of alternative media.
