HI. I, like a lot of other woman/couples in this country, can't have children. I am upset that only Ontario - and I believe, Quebec - cover a portion of the high cost of IVF (In vitro fertilization). What about the rest of us? So why isn't this country following suit? I know I am not in a position to pay that much or be forced to move. I believe more people will be able to have their dreams come true if a portion of the cost was covered. I started this petition to see if someone will listen to, and care about, the people of this amazing country. I also believe things should be easier for someone to pay the fee. How is it someone can end a pregnancy so easily and it's covered!! Is this country condoning this action? But can't condone helping women conceive? I would like someone there to experience the sheer pain at not being able to do what comes to most people, as normal. Other provinces are able to help, and acknowledge the importance. It's time someone in Ottawa realize it! Please join and help the MANY couples unable to conceive. Also please pass it along to friends & family. Please. Its time the people who can't afford the expensive costs of IVF be given a chance! The Honourable Karen Casey, NS Minister of Health can be reached at: healmin@gov.ns.ca.

    • One of our biggest stresses in dealing with our fertility issues within the last two years has been the financial strain of it all. Now our only option is to consider leaving the province in order to find better health coverage that will assist us in our only option to concieve, IVF.

    • Having children with the help of IVF shouldn't be a privilege for only those who can afford it. Many of us are young, with student loan debts and mortgages, and cannot afford the costs of having children PLUS paying the cost of IVF to conceive them. Please help us attain our dreams!

    • My son and daughter-in-law saved their money for the past year and last month finally started the in-vitro process. Unfortunately we found out on Monday that the procedure did not work. They are both devasted, along with us. This cost them $8,000.00. They are going to try again, putting away their money. By then they are hoping that the N.S. government will have stepped up and provide coverage for this procedure. It is not her fault she cannot conceive naturally. Please help us.
