Banaz Mahmoud Bakabir Agha, a 20 year old woman of Kurdish origin was brutally murdered on 23 January 2006 in a presumed 'honour' killing; police believe she was murdered by her own family after wishing to remarry after ending her forced marriage by divorce. Her body was found in a suitcase in April. Banaz had contacted London Metropolitan Police many times to express her fear of murder, but was sent back into the arms of the family that they suspect murdered her. If different action had been taken by police, Banaz would be alive today. We, supporters of the International Campaign Against Honour Killings, urge that police treat all complaints relating to 'honour' crime with the seriousness they deserve. It is too late for Banaz, and the many other victims of honour killing in Britain: it is not too late to save lives.

    • I hope that UK justice will make those criminals who killed Banaz or others who may contemplate such crimes that they have no place in this country

    • Honor killing is an ugly fleck in our society. Any campaign to end honor killing will serve the humanity in general and those societies that still practice it in particular.

    • This wasn't an honour killing Her uncles unlike her parents had refused her boyfriend proposing to her, because he wasn't rich enough and he wasn't an AGA's descendant. This is a FEUDALISM and it has nothing to do with chastity...

    • It is terrible that honour killings are committed anywhere in the world and there should be a bigger law penalty for it, i dont know how someone can murder a member of their own family it is disgusting and about time there was a stop put to it. Divorce is a everyday occurence to people over the world, if you dont love someone you should not be murdered for it
