We are in full support of the City of Batavia Fire Department to continue providing emergency medical transporting (Ambulance) services. We request the Batavia City Council reconsider resolution # 6-2009 passed on January 26, 2009 entitled, "A resolution to discontinue the city fire department from providing emergency medical transporting services effective August 31, 2009."

    • I have grandchildren and children as well as elderly parents in Batavia and want to know that they would have the Ambulance Service available to them in an emergency if needed. It is crucial to our community to continue this service. I believe there has to be another area that could be cut back on in order to keep this valuable service in our area.

    • I work @ UMMC. I feel this decision will negatively affect the residents of Genesee as well as Wyoming County. At times, there are 2 ambulances transporting patients to the city for a higher level of car (angio) or to the Nursing homes, as well as emergency calls being run. I don't see how an outsourced ambulance crew can cover all of our needs & still not affect the quality of care.

    • Although I no longer live in the area, I worked was a nurse at both St Jeromes and UMMC hospitals prior to our move. I cant imagine reducing the amount of ambulance service available for that community.

    • Please consider the demographics of our city. Batavia is a very elder-friendly city with many amenities for transportation and housing for older individuals. We need easy access to health care and emergency services. The ambulance service is critical to our safety and well-being. Please make this the first consideration.
