Basketball was once shown on free-to-air television in Australia in the early/mid 90's, during a time when the game of basketball was blossoming and growing rapidly. With the departure of the NBA headquarters in Australia, and the struggle of the NBL finding major sponsors, resulted in a slump that almost destroyed our love for the game in Australia. But we're still here standing.

Every one of us involved in basketball know, if NBA is brought back to free-to-air television and promoted to the country as the best standard of play in the world, then we will emulate, we will learn, we will grow and our National Basketball League will then flourish, it will grow and gain greater respect.

We all remember the good old days when basketball cards, huffy back boards, Starter hats and Channel-10 NBA Game of the week was on after NBA Action... (respect to channel 10 of the 90's but shame in not allowing the best game in the world continue to grow) Those days aren't gone for good... yet.

It's up to the basketball fans/players and believers of Australia, to sign this petition, to get as many people who support this mission to sign the petition, and to prove once and for all to the TV Networks, this country and the people of Australia deserve to be heard, basketball is one of the most participated-in sports in Australia, it deserves greater respect and awareness than the media are giving it!!!

We're sick of the marketing world turning a blind eye, we're sick and tired of a lot of ignorance and lack of action based on authentic love for sports. Here is your chance to show your love for the game and your belief in the rise of basketball in Australia!!! This is where it begins...

- Basketball is a world game, it's also in the top 3 most played team sports in Australia! It's the most played team sport in Victoria! Yet the media coverage hasn't been dealt with respect, it's been purposely ignored to attempt to destroy the sudden rise of basketball in the 1990s. Those were the days, the feeling was like no other... coming to school the next day to talk to everybody about how the Chicago Bulls won and trying to emulate Michael Jordans moves in the school playground. Basketball cards were huge!!! the brand Starter was huge, everybody had a Starter basketball cap!!! Huffy backboards were up on almost every kids garage!!! The game was ready to blow up and take off... So what do the media do? they protect their beloved Australian cultural sports by trying to ignore the greatness basketball portrays. The media was a factor, but the main reason was marketing, or lack of... We need basketball back on tv... for the survival of the game, for the love of the game, for the people of the game!!!

- I would love for this to happen, even if it was was just one or 2 games a week late night, there are so many people who would want this to happen regardless of how many signatures this gets, so you would not be stuck for ratings, plus it beats some of the crap shown by these channels these days anyway.
