2013 will mark the 50th anniversary of the first two Beatles albums being released in the UK. These two albums are notable for the fact that most of the session tapes don't exist anymore. From october 1963 onwards basically everything is preserved, but the first two albums were recorded before that point.
For this outstanding anniversary we suggest the release of a special album that stands in line with the "Yellow Submarine Songtrack" and "Let It Be... Naked". An album that comprises of fresh, powerful remixes of the only 12 songs from 1963 for which session tapes survive. These songs are (in order of recording):
There's A Place
I Saw Her Standing There
Do You Want To Know A Secret
A Taste Of Honey
Misery
From Me To You
Thank You Girl
One After 909
Hold Me Tight
Don't Bother Me
I Want To Hold Your Hand
This Boy
One After 909 was unreleased at the time, but would fit and with 12 tracks it would be a good number. This could also be an opportunity to release a special edition that has a bonus disc with outtakes and studio chat from the surviving 1963 sessions.
These recordings were made using 2-track tape. But new technology, that has already been used on The Beatles Rockband game, allows to separate instruments that are only preserved on one track, and this would indeed enable proper remixes of these 12 songs.
The 50th anniversary of the first Beatles albums should not go without a special release, and we consider this to be a fine addition to the two newly created remixed albums that were issued in 1999 and 2003.
