We, the undersigned, are loyal customers of Costco, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes and Sams Club. Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta) Plants have been or continue to be sold at your locations. Sago Palm Plants are not native to the United States and they contain the deadly Cyanide poison. Dog and cat owners lose hundreds of their pets each year as the result of no disclosure on these plants. Some children have been treated as the result of being exposed to these plants. You continue the business practice of not labeling the plants as being poisonous and dangerous, despite the fact you know of the poison in this plant. Pet owners only learn of the deadly consequences after their pets are poisoned. Often, they spend thousands of dollars in an attempt to save their pets. Most die, despite the medical treatment they receive. They all say if they had known of the plants deadly potential, they would have not brought them home to their children and pets.

Here is what we, your customers want done:

1) Adequately label the plant known as Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta) Plants as a poisonous plant containing Cyanide and/or have the disclaimer at the point-of-sale. You might even realize these plants are too dangerous to sell.
2) The plant should be labeled expressly for young children, cats and dogs that might ingest any part of the plant.
3) Additionally, first aid treatment information should be attached to these plants.

You cannot claim you (your company) didnt know. It is time to do the right thing for your customers!

    • I lost one dog and I have another that might not make it. All you have to do is warn people. I went in to a Lowe's and asked about poisonous plants and I was directed to a gardening book by an associate that failed to mention anything about this deadly poisonous plant. The first time a child is killed by this plant these plants will be required to be labeled so be the first to volunteer to label these plants poisonous.

    • My Friends dog just died from eating this plants seeds that her landlord had landscaped into her yard and there are sago palms all over the park across from her house. I live in Florida and there are Sago palms in alot yards, including mine - which I will be digging up this weekend but I guarantee that pet owners are unaware of the poison - Azaleas and Amaryllis, lilies and tulips too there are at least 17 plants that are commonly used that are POISON.

    • Following the unanticipated death of our son , we assumed the responsibility of caring for his dogs Wilma and Rocky. We have a thirty year old sago in our back yard. Last night Wilma ate a seed from that plant and now is gravely ill. The prognosis is not good. We didn't know the danger this plant poses, not only to our pets but to our new grand daughter as well. Although this sago is the progeny and legacy of a plant grown by my parents nearly fifty years ago, it is coming out of our yard next week, limb and root and I will share this cautionary tale with our friends and family.

    • This is not just toxic to pets, but humans.. We just lost our 10 month old Bulldog to this plant. I'm going to make it my goal to make sure ALL toxic plants will be labeled as just that.
