We, the undersigned, are loyal customers of Costco, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes and Sams Club. Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta) Plants have been or continue to be sold at your locations. Sago Palm Plants are not native to the United States and they contain the deadly Cyanide poison. Dog and cat owners lose hundreds of their pets each year as the result of no disclosure on these plants. Some children have been treated as the result of being exposed to these plants. You continue the business practice of not labeling the plants as being poisonous and dangerous, despite the fact you know of the poison in this plant. Pet owners only learn of the deadly consequences after their pets are poisoned. Often, they spend thousands of dollars in an attempt to save their pets. Most die, despite the medical treatment they receive. They all say if they had known of the plants deadly potential, they would have not brought them home to their children and pets.
Here is what we, your customers want done:
1) Adequately label the plant known as Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta) Plants as a poisonous plant containing Cyanide and/or have the disclaimer at the point-of-sale. You might even realize these plants are too dangerous to sell.
2) The plant should be labeled expressly for young children, cats and dogs that might ingest any part of the plant.
3) Additionally, first aid treatment information should be attached to these plants.
You cannot claim you (your company) didnt know. It is time to do the right thing for your customers!

- My Layla is a survivor, thanks to some wonderful vets and a big dose of luck. It took a week on IVs before she could keep anything down, and is still on supplements to support her liver. Three months later her lab work is almost back to normal. These plants need a warning label!

- It is unfortunate pets suffer a horrendous death due to lack of notice at purchase of the danger this plant offers to our pets.

- My 9 month old black lab is under care as I sign this petition. Her prognosis tonight is better than the 50-50 chance they gave us last night. PLEASE take these plants off the market! I have 5 in my yard and had no idea they could kill our puppy! My 10 yr old daughter cried herself to sleep last night at the thought of possibly losing her best friend.

- My kitten chewed on this plant two months ago. He spent several days in the hospital. He still is not out of the woods. These plants need to be labeled as toxic! How was I to know.

- My pet is being treated now for poisoning from this plant. We are exhausting all measures to save her life. I wish I had known earlier about this, I would not have bought it.

- What would it hurt to have warning labels on these plants? Especially if it could save the life of even one dog, cat or child.

- My cat died shortly after ingesting the leaves of a sago palm plant. I DID NOT KNOW this plant was poisonous and deadly when I brought it into my home. My other cat is still suffering ill effects from ingesting leaves as well. THERE NEEDS TO BE A WARNING ON THESE PLANTS!

- I just purchased a Sago Palm from my local supermarket. I will inform the management for I know they maybe concerned. I have cats and a dog whom may have been spared suffering or death due to this petition. My thoughts are with all those who have lost family members due to the non-labeling of the cyanide content of this plant.
