The intersection of Bloor and Yonge is at the heart of the largest and most vibrant city in Canada Toronto. However, over the years it has been left to degrade and is now a symbol of mediocrity. We can do better and now we have the opportunity. Because of the failure of the One Bloor East project, the south-east corner of Bloor and Yonge is now vacant and we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to build something great.

We are asking that the City of Toronto expropriate the land on the south-east corner of Yonge and Bloor to build a public square and park. The advantages of this are numerous including:

- Building a series of great public spaces along the spine of Toronto Yonge Street.
- Revitalizing the length of Yonge Street between Yonge and Dundas
- Creating a great public space above one of the busiest subway stations in the city.
- A new place to hold public events and an excellent tourist draw for Toronto.
- An enormous benefit to the surrounding businesses and residents, drawing residents and tourists to the neighbourhood like never before.

With the necessary public will and partnerships, the money can be found and the site can be made into a showpiece for Toronto. We ask that the City of Toronto move as quickly as possible to secure the land for public use.

    • It's a great idea. That corner (and the rest of downtown frankly) needs some greenspace!

    • Funny enough, Bloor and Yonge is where Google positions Toronto when you map it. Let's make this happen!

    • I think creating a square in this space is a fantastic way for Toronto to revitalize a key part of the city that currently has little character.

    • This hub of Toronto can be a wonderful place for people to meet and business to flourish. It can be a unique Canadian gem for public and civic space. Let's put our minds and hearts together Toronto and make it happen.

    • I think this is the best idea for this space. Yonge and Bloor has been a terrible eyesore for many years - even before the lot became vacant. I think making it into a shared, public green space would do wonders for the space and the city - especially since it is the center point of the two subway lines!
