This petition is too involve bmx bicycling and skateboarding all in ONE facility! Tulare California is building a brand new, super nice skatepark! However bmx bicycles are being excluded from being able to participate in a park which is supposed to be made for the PUBLIC! Discrimination?? Most definately! We (bmxers) ride the exact same thing as skateboards do, sometimes even more... Yet the public is being told bmx bicycles are not made for those types of ramps and/or enviorments. Do pro baseball, football, soccer, even sometimes basketball sports not share the same stadiums? I'm sure those stadiums were not ment to hold all these sports under one roof. Yet they operate successfully. Even sometimes have a concert or two inside these building? Then why couldn't one or two similar sports share the same facility? I mean the town 20mins down the road is operating fine with a wide range of sports sharing the park. Scooters, roller blades, bmx, skatebords are jus some of which share the skatepark. With gas prices the way they are now why should we be made to drive 20mins to do what we love? Especially when theres a really nice facility almost dead center in our own town? So why cant we be treated equally? "WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR ANY SPECIAL TREATMENT, JUST TO BE TREATED EQUALLY!" We could be doing other things like being involved in graffiti, gangs, theft... or even be involved with our meth infested streets. Yet we choose to be involved in a healthy and active sport. A sport that could just possibly be made a career out of. I mean look how far these sports have gone, THEY ARE NOW APART OF THE 2008 OLYMPICS! How much bigger can this get? Most would agree that making it to the olympics would be a dream! Yet we have no community support in encouraging these dreams to be made a reality. We are being discriminated against instead. So... I am asking that YOU help make our voices be heard! Please sign OUR petition to let this park be truly open to THE PUBLIC! Everyone who signs this will have a impact in the decision that will be made by our city rather or not this park will be for everyone! For yourself, your children, the community... Please sign this statement and THANK YOU for takin the time to do so

"..we should all be treated equally!
let the WHOLE public in Our skatepark!"

    • They should be treated equal, no discrimination should be tolerated. If bikes are not allowed then the city of Tulare should build a bike park!

    • If bikes are allowed in other parts of the U.S. then why not there? Bikes also have brakes, skateboards do not!

    • it's discrimination to say the least, it's all concrete, and skateboard trucks are made of metal too. and collisions between people within the park are common whether it's bike/skate, skate/skate, or bike/bike.... ridiculous...

    • Bikes have been doing fine in the Visalia skatepark, and loads of skateparks worldwide, the fact it is called a "skatepark" does not imply it is a "Skate only" park, I mean, Come on, We live in a world where we drive on parkways, and park in driveways! BMX and skateboarding have both evolved tremendously over the years, and one doesn't damage any surface more than the other, and are quite safe together, and there is no longer worry of a skater / biker feud, I myself ride BMX, but have more friends that skate than ride BMX, and both the skate friends, and biker friends work together in getting new places opened up.. On top of that, if you look in the article about the fundraiser where there was a little skate comp going on, I'm in the picture holding my bike up with my friend, and rode in the high hop contest with Josh Bruno, a skateboarder, we can all co-exist, and we all need the same places and obsticles to ride, Thank you for your time, Lazarus Perry.
