Are you the Author?
I will not support any political candidate for national office if he/she does not make the exiting of troops and contractors from Iraq at once a central plank in his/her campaign platform. I would rather abstain from voting than vote for a continued occupation of Iraq.

    • Demanding "benchmarks of progress" from Bush is not enough. Look at the benchmarks Bush has given us: Lies about WMDs and links between Al-Queda and Iraq; tens of thousands of people maimed and dead; hundreds of billions lost or shuttled to cronies; Americans torturing prisoners at Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib; complete Federal negligence at New Orleans; spying on Americans, and on and on. Do the American people have it in them anymore to declare something-- anything, "Unacceptable?" Or do we patiently wait for "benchmarks of progress?"

    • As a veteran of this war, I know how futile our efforts are in Iraq and how damaging the continued occupation of Iraq is to our national security. I will only support a cantidate who not only opposes the war but plans to present legislation for immediate withdrawal. There is no such thing as an exit strategy, our strategy will be the same as it was for all wars on the past century: ships and airplanes.

I also support sending in the UN and international humanitarian aid groups, anti-explosives experts, and anyone else who can help put Iraq back together.
