On July 5, 2009, at 7pm, Clear Channel Radio removed Birmingham's only "new rock" station (The Vulcan), and replaced it with talk radio programming. I am extremely disappointed at this change, and it is my hope that with this petition the people of Birmingham will join me in showing Program Director Paul Cashin at Clear Channel how many of us want a "new rock" station to return!

    • We need a Rock station that doesn't play watered down classic/80's glam rock all the time. The Vulcan was truelly a great rock station and to lose the cities only real rock station is rather depressing.

    • I am very upset at the loss of a great rock station. For those of us who don't want to listen to stale pop music, this was one of the only decent stations out there. I have nothing against talk radio or the politics associated with it, but would much rather have my rock station back.

    • At least put Lex and Terry back on in the mornings. I have absolutely nothing interesting to listen to in the mornings, and you can only listen to CD's for so long in the afternoon before you get tired of them. I need a good station that plays rock music. Also, my friend lost his job as a board operator for the station when the change was made. He was given no notice until the night before the change.
