We, the undersigned, respectfully request that BMW of North America review the lineup of automobiles made available to buyers in the United States and Canada.
Currently BMW of North America does not offer any options for consumers seeking a performance oriented vehicle with an economical drivetrain. BMW AG does produce these vehicles in the form of various 4 cylinder and diesel powered models. While these models are available in almost every other market in the world, they are not available in North America.
Additionally, since 1999 BMW of North America has made no provisions for its customers that prefer a smaller, more versatile automobile. The current 3 Series Compact or the 3 door version of the upcoming 1 Series would be welcome additions to the choices available in this class of automobiles. Once again, these models are or will be available to nearly every market in the world except North America.
Please rethink your strategy for United States and Canadian sales and availability. In these times of increasing awareness of the limits of our natural resources and concerns about the environment, it would be to BMW of North Americas advantage to allow the residents of the United States and Canada to choose from the full range of BMWs more economical models that are available to the rest of the world.

- I had been looking forward to the 1 series ever since I saw the picture. I hope that the 318ti I have will not be the last BMW I buy, I like the smaller size, practicality of a hatchback. I have a long commute everyday so I appericate the good fuel economy of the 4 cyl engine. 3 Series had grown to be too big. If there is no hatchback in BMW future line up, I will have to consider a MB C coupe.

- Against popular opinion, there are a large number of pure car enthusiasts here in the US. Please recognize this and send us some of the desirable non-US models!!

- I have owned an E36/5 318ti since 1998 and have since purchased two additional BMWs. The 318ti was my introduction to the brand and is responsible for what is likely to be lifelong loyalty. I think you should consider this kind of approach to acquiring long-term customers.

- The spirit of the E30 M3 was a four cylinder engine. Smaller is better, and there are still plenty of enthusiast in America who still think this way.

- im sure bmw's new 3-serie compact over here in the US would be widely accepted as well as greatly appreciated; according to reviews, many over in europe disapprove of the new compact- why not try the US?
