Oppose Breed Specific Legisation!!! The media and the inexperienced would have you believe that these breeds are vicious and should be prohibited. However, these breeds as a whole have proven their stability and good canine citizenry by becoming Search and Rescue dogs,Therapy Dogs,by working inside hospitals, and being used as professional herding and sporting dogs, as well as by serving families as faithful and sound companions for years.
Our Country was not founded on the restriction and punishment of the masses based on the actions of a few.... when has this changed?
Statistics and studies do not support the assertion that any one breed is dangerous. When legislation is focused on the type of dog it fails, because it is...unenforceable, confusing, and costly. Focusing legislation on dogs that are "vicious" distracts attention from the real problem, which is irresponsible owners.
We suggest that the appropriate policy should be "blame the owner, not the dog." Owners can and should take responsibility for their pets.
The legislation that is both enacted and proposed across the United States is unfair for responsible citizens and it addresses the wrong problem. Voting for and standing behind BSL only harms the law abiding responsible dog owner. We stand to loose many wonderful and valuable canines if the Breed Specific Legislation is allowed to continue. Thank You.

    • I own three wonderfully sweet and affectionate American Pitbull Terriers. Breed specific legislation is an exceptionally ignorant. idea put into motion by a group of uneducated and inexperienced people.

    • I feel that several of the breeds especially the pitbulls are treated unfairly. I feel the owner is the one that should be punished not the dog. I also believe the insurance companies are becoming to critical of certain breeds.

    • Owners should be held responsible for how they raise their dogs. A puppy is not born vicious but an owner who turns his dog into a weapon should be the one punished for the dogs actions not the breed!

    • Many bull breeds are specifically bred to gregarious if not fawning to people. As such they make wonderful caring family pets that go out of their way to protect and love their charges. What bully owner has not sat on the couch with a 20kg Stafford splayed across their lap?

    • It is absolutely horrendous that these animals have been given a bad name because of people! Let the animals speak for themselves...if you are around them, then you'll see how wonderful they are.

    • I have to be the first to admit, I was at one time ignorant about these so called "vicious" breeds. That is until I actually met some. I am now the proud parent of a beautiful, intellegent, sweet Pit Bull. She is only second to my children who also love her dearly, as she does them. Calling these dogs "vicious" because of their breed, is nothing but ignorance and discrimination. It is no different than disliking someone because of their beliefs or color. They didn't ask to be put here, nor did they ask for humans to treat them so terribly. I believe their only mistake is putting all of their love and trust in humans!
