We the undersigned ask that Niagara Falls Transit reviews and changes their rule to not allow strollers on the bus.

This rule has caused safety and convenience concerns to people wanting to travel with toddlers or younger not able to sit in a chair without safety straps. It is almost impossible for a single parent/guardian to handle a toddler or younger, baggage such as groceries/laundry/other children, as well as be able to open and close a stroller while boarding a city bus. These tasks require two hands each and trying to handle children while closing a stroller can cause more harm than good. Children who cannot stand or sit on their own should be strapped into their strollers while a city bus is in motion - not the other way around.
It is stated on the Niagara Transit website that their mission statement is To provide a safe, affordable, courteous and reliable transit service which responds to the needs of the community.
The needs of parents/guardians of toddlers or younger is to have a public transit service that is safe for our children and that is non-discriminatory against people who are unable to sit/stand on their own.

Show us that the safety of Niagaras youngest is important to Niagara Transit.

    • This has been a long time coming! what took this town this long to bring this to the fore front.I am now a grandparent and my daughter takes niagara transit and has complained about this for 5yrs. I have watched parents struggle to fold buggies up,while trying to keep children safe so they can all get on the bus . How is this possible when you have grocerys plus 2 kids and a stroller that you have to fold up so you get on the bus. if ti is not folded up thr driver rudley tells you to fold it up or you are not welcome on. They make no attempt to help , How sad. I am sure that it is safer to have these children harnessed into the buggies with wheels locked than it is to have them being somewhat held onto by there parents who are trying to hang onto everyhting else.Put these families at fron of bus and if young people are sitting there ,ask them to move to back of bus. How hard is this to do. I have payed taxes to this city for over 25yrs and I expect my moneys worth in Manners. I do not apologise .
