Keep Bute Park Open Later

We the undersigned ask that Cardiff Council's executive note the inconvenience caused to walkers and cyclists by the early closure of Bute Park in the winter months.

We request that lighting be installed along the route between the Sophia Gardens footbridge and North Road so that it can remain open until the early evening. This would enable many more people to walk or cycle to work without a lengthy detour and thus help reduce the significant traffic congestion and pollution in Cardiff.

    • The top part of Bute Park remains open in winter so why not the bottom end? It would be much safer and more convienient than crossing at Blackweir

    • During the winter months I drive to work rather than cycle because the detour around the park at the end of the day adds considerable time to journey home. If the park remained open until 5.30pm I would continue to cycle to work.

    • A cycle path in front of the castle would also help greatly. It is very difficult to cycle along this stretch without holding-up motorists.
