The Scottish Arts Council has recently proposed cutting over 300,000 to the Byre Theatre over the next two years.

I believe that the Byre Theatre should not have this vital investment cut by the Scottish Arts Council and that the Byre should be supported to carry out its important strategic national role and valuable position in the Fife Community.

    • The Byre plays a massive role in the Fife Community and the Scottish Arts Community. The excellent work done at the Byre should be recognised and supported by the SAC.

    • I think that the Byre Theatre plays an extremely important role, bringing excellent live performances, very varied, to a rural area.

    • I oppose in the strongest possible terms the SAC's proposed cuts to Byre Funding. This is very short sighted and a real tragedy for the locality because it is a fantastic community resource and the programme of acts/performers and the way in which it uses the space cafe/bar/retaurant spaces for events, exhibitions, music etc is much appreciated and admired. The town of St Andrews and the Byre Theatre have been successful partners for a very long time and the Byre's international standing needs no further explanation. I urge the SAC to please reverse this decision without delay.

    • The Byre Theatre enriches the lives of both the local community and the many tourists who come here. It has been an integral part of life in St Andrews for many years and it is unthinkable that its future should be threatened.

    • Scottish Arts Council continuing to fund the Byre Theatre is absolutely essential, as it is often the place where our small children are introduced to the magical world of theatre, art and music, thus begining the broadning of their education without their awareness.

    • The Byre Theatre has an important role in the community and should be recognised for this and receive funding to continue with their creative work, which is highly valued by local people and tourists.
