Ford Canada workers havent given up the concessions that GM and Fiat/Chrysler workers have in the current auto industry crisis. Although Ford hasnt suffered to the same extent as its competitors, the leadership is publicly calling for similar give-backs, in exchange for promises of jobs and investment.
We, the undersigned Canadian autoworkers, reject the idea of setting a Pattern Agreement downwards, matching the lowest level. Ford workers shouldnt be forced to give up any new concessions. This will only undermine efforts to defend what we have, make progress in the future more difficult and strengthen Ford's argument that they need more concessions to remain competitive.
The union should insist that the current Ford agreement should become the new pattern that workers at GM-Canada and Fiat/Chrysler Canada should match. If Ford workers refuse concessions, this will only strengthen our collective solidarity and power. The era of concessions needs to stop now.

- Our fathers gave up enough to get us where we are. To give back would just be an insult to the battles they won.

- It's absolutely necessary for Ford workers to keep what they have, it's the only way we, at GM and Chrysler can ever hope to get back what we shouldn't have lost.

- it,s time to move forward not backwards, we have already given up enough.they have got a lot of nerve asking the membership to take concessions when they have shown no salary restraint from the top but can still turn a big profit and still talk of closing St Thomas. why would you vote for concessions when your going to lose your job..

- I DO NOT think so! Now Oshawa needs us and we can be considered GM? Where were they 20 yrs ago? The money from the gov't does not help us at all. We have taken care of 88 everytime by ourselves, let them do it on their own.

- The pattern established in auto affects us all; we benefited when you were strong and we'll face the same downward pressure if we do not draw a line in the sand here and now.
