We the taxpayers of Canada wish to emphasize to the Prime Minister of Canada, the Honourable Stephen Harper, the importance of local CBC programming in rural Canada, including our area in Central Newfoundland. We implore the Prime Minister and his Cabinet to provide such funding to CBC as might be necessary to ensure that staffing levels in these locations are not reduced, such that CBC can continue to provide the service we want and need.

    • CBC is one of two things that make me extremely glad to be a Canadian. The other is Medicare. Any government that fails to fully support either will never have my support.

    • I doubt the federal government is aware of the importance of the CBC to rural Canada.

    • Too many cuts have already taken place at CBC. At one time I listened to CBC for about 80\% of my listening time, now I am down to about 20\%..........I have turned to listening to internet radio, mostly from Ireland, of all places!!

    • I am protesting the proposed changes to our local area early morning Radio Show on CBT Grand Falls-Windsor and CBG Gander....As a retired employee from CBT I know very well how much our listeners enjoy the community spirt and information that the two stations provide ...To reduce it you are going to insult a lot of CBC supporters who listen only to the CBC here ....One of the best services provided by the CBC " Radio One " in this area is the local coverage...Better than some of the national programs which spend far to much time on the " Middle East ".... I hope some how you will be able to influence the " Powers That Be " up along to change their minds and allow us to keep our present some what already reduced local morning radio show .... Thank you

    • The CBC should be considered an essential service for all remote parts of Canada! For many smaller communities this is the only broadcast that includes news on a local level.

    • I'm totally disgusted that CBC would even consider reducing services in rural areas of the province. I'm an avid listener to the morning show and look forward to waking each morning and listening to the local events. Grand Falls-Windsor is the largest population center in Central Nfld and certainly has it's share of local news to share. I cannot believe that CBC will only be hosting the morning show out of Gander. We have a state of the art CBC building in Town and it will be a shame to have this building empty. It's time that decision makers consult local people before making such decisions. We are all aware that a recession is happening and everyone is looking to cut cost but at what expense? Sometimes it's necessary to bite the bullet to preserve culture. Let's take a stand and maintain a CBC presence in Grand Falls-Windsor.

    • The only decent radio station on the dial. You do not know what a prize until you lose it, or travel in the USA

    • The program quality of CBC Central Newfoundland radio has reached insufferable levels this fall due to federal cutbacks. It is imperative for the sake of good coverage in Central that laid-off staff be replaced as soon as possible.
