We the undersigned:
Demand that academic freedom as defined by the 1940 Statement of Principles on Academic Freedom and Tenure by the American Association of University Professors be protected on this campus at all cost to ensure open and critical dialogue.
Demand that the attack on Professor Robinsons academic freedom, one that ominously recalls similar campaigns against other critical academics across the nation, be publicly condemned.
Demand the immediate dismissal of all of the charges against Professor Robinson as frivolous, unfounded, and malicious. Any further consideration of these baseless attacks is unacceptable.
Join other students and faculty in pledging that we will not accept any resolution of this matter that is unfavorable to Professor Robinson and academic freedom.
Join other students and faculty in demanding that academic critique of states, governments, and political structures, including the state of Israel be protected as political speech.

    • Dr. Robinson is a foremost scholar on globalization and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is significant in how it manages to influence globalizaing processes ranging from the politics of multi-lateral trade agreements to the application of international codes of ethics, and for Dr. Robinson not to comment and even take a stance on the conflict and its significance on contemporary globalizing processes would be irresponsbile to say the least

    • I agree with Professor Robinson's position here, and I suspect that the use of the term 'anti-semitic' is becoming increasingly meaningless. Will the attackers of Professor Robinson refer to Avigdor Lieberman as an anti-semite, seeing as how is is against the Arab people and that the Arab people are a semitic peoples?

    • As a undergraduate student of both Sociology and Global Studies, I am completely shocked at the charges against Professor Robinson. He has been one of the best professors I have had at UCSB; thus, I am currently taking a second class with him. He never forces his ideas or way of thinking onto his students. He constantly reminds us to question everything, even the professor himself. These charges need to be dismissed so that he can continue to educate more and more students.
