Dear Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.,
I heard that there is the 45nm variant of the Cell microprocessor in development for the next model for the PlayStation 3. Since you are making plans for the next PS3 model with this new variant of the Cell microprocessor and planning to cut manufacturing costs, why not bring back the PS2 backwards compatibility? The PlayStation 2 is nearing the end of its lifespan. I think the PS2 backwards compatibility might be a good fit with the reduced manufacturing costs, so this will give the PS3 some more advantage.
The earliest PlayStation 3 models do play PS2 software along with the PS1 software. Then the current models dropped that feature, spared the PS1 backwards compatibility. Well, as for next model, it'll be your chance to bring back this feature.
You did a really good job of handling the PS1 backwards compatibility with the PS2 years ago, but it's time to take action to recapture the joy of the whole PS2 library for the PS3. You also did the great job of bringing out the Dual Shock 3.
I hope you'll do your best to drive up your PlayStation brand by taking the past software library from the first two PlayStation products with the PS3 together for sales, like PS2 before it.
I heard some rumors that the past PS2 library is in the Game Archives from the PlayStation Network service, but from now on, make it come true! I wish all of you at Sony will try to do your best to bring back the Emotion Engine and Reality Synthesizer to the PS3 once again worldwide for not only yourselves, but for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and Sony Computer Entertainment America! Also, I wish you'll bring your technical and backwards compatibility team back together to do something great!
Plus, don't forget to keep the PS1 backwards compatibility intact!
Thank you for your appreciation and your understanding.

- My comments are actually too long to fit here, but the condenced version says this. Bring back PS2 backward compatibility. It'll save the PS3's life. Right now it's on it's way to becoming the "Dreamcast"Station.

- I finally got an 80 GB ps3 system, but was very upset that you guys denyed that my ps3 will ever have backwards comatibility. make it possible, it only makes sense. if your going to make the ultimate gaming console that beats the hell out of the others, you should atleast have what those other systems do have and thats being able to play its own company software no matter what year it was created

- PS3 will lose its hype to 360 and Wii if it is the only system to not include backward compatible
