More Info at:
To Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Staples, Target, and all retailers using Certegy check authorization service:
Every day, retailers using Certegy's faulty risk management system lose money and customers when checks are declined for no good reason. Certegy bases its decision to accept or decline a check based on statistical information rather than whether there are sufficient funds to cover it. Upon rejection - which is in itself a humiliating experience - the customer is directed to call a number for an explanation of why the transaction was declined. But Certegy customer service representatives usually give incorrect, vague, or even nonsensical answers to these queries.
No customer should need the permission of a third party to write or cash a check in your store. I urge you to sever your business relationship with Certegy and switch to a system that actually verifies sufficient funds in the customer's checking account, similar to the process for using a debit card. A person with proper identification, bearing a check that contains security features and is covered by sufficient funds, should NEVER have a check declined.

- I have had checks declined the last few days at Sears, K-Mart, Big Lots, and now at Walgreens. When I called Certegy the woman who answered said that, for security purposes she could not tell me what internal guidelines they were using to decline my check. Certegy needs to be driven out of business.

- You shouldn't be writing checks. You are giving your identity away. Certegy is declining you because they can't prove it is you. It has nothing to do with whether the check is good. They are verifying your identity. It saves each company they serve millions of dollars a year. Way much more than all of you spend put together.

- After the recent news about the stolen customer data, I don't think I'll write a check at any of these places again. I just found out yesterday that my bank account has been accessed fraudulently, to the tune of about $100.

- I was Assaulted at Harrah's Casino in Maryland Heights Missouri by Maurice Benzie and others when CERTEGY declined my check for no reason.I was blocked in , Not allowed to Leave, after I had been told if I didn't go I would be charged with tresspassing.I was pushed down backwards by Maurice Benzie, I was drug by my wrist, I was Choked to the point I could not breath by Maurice Benzie,I was then drug another 100 feet, when two security personnel had finally showed up.They had my wrist behind me.I was standing still.Maurice Benzie then reached down and grabbed my right foot and jerked my right leg upwards into the air behind me.One second my head was 5'8" off the ground. The next second my head was slamming into the brick floor.I never touched anyone , even while all this was done to me.I was then Railroaded through the St. Louis County Court and (FALSELY) convicted of Assault and Resisting Arrest because of LIES and Harrah's Casino chopped up video.

- Office Depot will not receive my family's business. My mom has never bounced a check or had any credit problems. She was unable to have a check processed at Office Depot because of Certegy. We later learned they use a computer algorithm to create a customer profile. Well, their computer certainly made a big mistake. She had more than enough to cover the funds for the $1000 purchase.

- Certegy falsely accused me of NSF when in actuality, their client endorsed the check incorrectly. After this, I can no longer write checks for significant amounts. Funds were there and were verified by my bank. It was Certegy's client's fault and I am paying the price.

- after two times of trying to buy home supplies at home depot, I am thoroughly disgusted with Certegy. Now it is almost winter, and there's little chance of being moved into our home any time soon.
