My daughter was born with a Congenital Heart Defect. She needed intervention for her heart. She has Pulmonary Stenosis and Atrial Septal Defect. Her condition doesn't require many hospital stays or surgeries but for other children they have to go through many stays and surgeries. In the U.S nearly twice as many children die each year from congenital heart defects than all forms of childhood cancers combined, yet, funding for pediatric cancer research is 5 times higher than for congenital heart defects. Why is this? Please sign the petition to invest in Congenital Heart Defect Research to find the root causes of congenital heart defects, and to improve the care and treatment of children born with these defects to enable them to lead healthy and meaningful lives. With the pushing of medical research cures can be found. Thank you for listening!

    • My son was born with complex cyanotic congenital heart disease composed of single ventricle, pulmonary stenosis, A.S.D., leaky mitrial valve, transposistion of the greater arteries, and T.A.P.V.R. below the diaphram. He was diagnosed after several siezures caused by a lack of oxygen. I am very disappointed by the lack of research in this matter.

    • My child was born with a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. He was diagnosed at two days of age, in heart failure at two weeks of age and underwent his first open heart surgery at three months of age. We knew nothing about CHDs which is common among most people. Research and awareness will help our children as well as the children of the future.

    • dad to Calista, 6, PAPVC. We need attention given to CHD. Thank goodness my daughter was diagnosed at the age of 6 by accident. She switched doctors because of a move we made. Her prior doctor never heard the murmur. Her situation was caught and can be repaired thanks to the advancement of medical technology. We need more awareness with respect to CHD's!!!!

    • My 5 year old daughter has undergone 3 open-heart surgeries so far for her congenital heart defect. Currently she has to undergo open-heart surgeries every 5-7 years. Please help fund research so that she and other children like her do not need to continue to have these surgeries. We hope and pray she will make it through each of these surgeries until research and technology give us and alternative choice.
