Adoption law needs to be changed! Mothers should not be able to place children up for adoption for at least for 7 days after their delivery due to the physical and emotional distress that accompanies such an event, not to mention the effect of narcotic drugs often used to control post-delivery pain on ones ability to think clearly. There should also be an adequate amount of time to revoke consent. For goodness sake, youre allowed 2 weeks to revoke a car contract. Puppies and kittens arent allowed to be adopted out until theyre at least eight weeks old. Surely human beings are more important than cars or animals! Adoption should also be regulated federally with the laws being the same in every state. This would eliminate the state hopping tactics used by agencies to rid fathers of their rights, as in the cases of Cody ODea and Matt Tenneson, and avoid battles between states with one state ignoring a court order from another which is now the case with Matt Tenneson. Fathers also deserve equal rights. Those are their babies too! Putative Father Registries are a joke and are dehumanizing, in my opinion. Finally, in a case of contested adoption, the case should be heard in front of a jury. One person should not be allowed to the authority to make a decision of such great consequence.

    • I agree that parents should have more time to decide if they want to keep their child or give up their child. I also feel that if the parent wants they have a right to know where there child is going.

    • It's disgraceful. The pain and guilt a mother feels at giving her baby up continues for many years afterwards,

    • I feel that adoption is just another way for our severely corrupt government to make more money. It needs to be changed!

    • I wholehartedly agree that adoption laws need to change. Most women aren't psychologically in a place to make such a life changing decision, especially under the effects of whatever pain medication they're on at the time.

    • This law should be changed. The law back in the 70s should be thrown out and allow us to have our records. give us the chance we never had. let us say if we can contact our bio parents or not. let our voices be heard for a change.

    • Father's need to have the same rights as mother's. My son has been fighting for 4 years to have his son return after mom put his son up for adoption and hid where his son was for 16 months so that they could use best interest. Shawn did file claim for his son within the state of Texas deadline. And stopped the adoption but with all the delays that is why it has took so long. Shawn has visation but not the right to raise his son. Shawn has not and is not unfit in anyway. Sad fact where in Texas now adoption agencies do not have to inform father's that their children are beening put up for change the laws please

    • Other crucial issues: Prevention of Statute language protecting and insulating those involved with procuring infants for sale and purchase. By way of example, the current language speaks to the foreseen harm, even death caused and the fraud involved with such tiny human procurements. Further, such harms and/or death are not to be limited to time.

    • Please don't ignore the need for this change. If you allow this to continue, you will be allowing the un-necessary and life long horror in pain and suffering to innocent human beings. Please, it's important you think about this and take this given opportunity via this Petition to show you're moral strength in character. Thank you for your time.

    • This is ridiculous that things like this keep happening. We are currently in an adoption battle in the state of Utah with fraud. GETBABYJACKBACK.com
