Keep AJ Cook & Paget Brewster on Criminal Minds!

CBS has decided to save money on the best show on television, Criminal Minds, by cutting one of its female characters entirely (Jennifer Jareau, played by AJ Cook) and by severely reducing the part of Emily Prentiss (played by Paget Brewster) in the upcoming season that begins in September. This leaves only one full-time female character, Penelope Garcia as played by Kirsten Vangsness.

While we, the fans, certainly love Garcia, we also love Jennifer Jareau and Emily Prentiss and feel that this show cannot go on in such a state. It is a travesty of modern society that a network would make such a blatantly sexist decision. Everywhere in the world, women are devalued for getting married, for taking our husbands' surnames, for having children, or for having only female children and no male children, or for simply being women...the list is long.

In 21st-century America, this kind of thing should not be allowed to happen. These two female characters are integral to Criminal Minds, not only as valuable members of the team of characters, but also as representatives of a population of strong working women in a field which is still primarily male-dominated.

If CBS goes ahead with this decision, it will surely lose much of the show's fan base (just look at the online response to this story wherever it is printed) and one of its best money-making shows will no longer be so.

Shame on you.

    • It's a shame and unfair the firing of a really good actress and the cutting of episodes of another wonderful actress that are essential parts of the show. Those characters blended well with the other characters and made a great team. All of them, all of the actors of Criminal Minds made a great team and were a treat to watch every week. I disagree with the decision taken by the network. It's bad that they disassemble an awesome team that made the show great.

    • both these actresses are a fundamental part of this series which I have been watching via DVD for the last 5 years. I f main characters continue to be removed then I shall cease buying the product!

    • hi i wanted 2 say i lov watchin this show,it is the only tv show i watch every time its on n dont care if its a repeat... i watch this so much that i lov all the cast n this so n i really would not want 2 c n e of them gone. its like the crew is like my family, i know it a show but when i watch them cuz i watch this show so much i cry if one of them get hurt or if they r sad, n pain so am i ,if there happy iam happy basically it just would not b the same if the whole crew wasnt 2gether they r a family n family should not b broken up.. i feel the reason i liked this tv show so much is bcuz of the crew, they each have a part like a puzel piece they all was there own person n but put 2gether n this movie make up a perfect family puzel,they r a team n were always there for each other.. now i like other shows n always tell myself i am gonna watch the next epidos but i 4get n it doesnt cross my mind unless i am flickin the channal n c it on,n durin comeral i will change it but C,M i have to watch.i dont 4get bout,

    • She is a great actor and character don't jump the shark here keep her aropund look whar happened to CSI Vegas when Sidle left they brought her back pretty damn fast!!! Keep A.J Cook in the show she is a great part of a great team.

    • There's no one who can replace AJ and Paget, without them, CM looses some of its magic... its like having a christmas tree without the decorations.... it's simply not a Christmas tree.

    • Please keep JJ and Prentiss on the show! JJ has been there since the beginning and Prentiss' character adds so much to the show. You will definitively lose the majority of your fan base if you go through with this.

    • What a stupid idea! Just think what happend to X- Files without Scully and Mulder (for picking a popular example) - the chemistry's and the rankings went down the toilet.. we want "the mother and the former goth-girl" - Chars back and not substituted! NOW! Plus, don't take women out of the show - we already have to deal with too many not handsome looking men on the show ;-)

    • I've never been a TV watcher until "Criminal Minds" came onboard CBS. I am devastated at the firing of A.J. Cook and the narrowing of Emily Prentiss' character, so wonderfully played by Paget Brewster. What could you have possibly been thinking? It was bad enough when Mandy Patinkin departed, but Rossi's character has filled that void very well. But what you can offer your viewers now??
