Keep AJ Cook & Paget Brewster on Criminal Minds!

CBS has decided to save money on the best show on television, Criminal Minds, by cutting one of its female characters entirely (Jennifer Jareau, played by AJ Cook) and by severely reducing the part of Emily Prentiss (played by Paget Brewster) in the upcoming season that begins in September. This leaves only one full-time female character, Penelope Garcia as played by Kirsten Vangsness.

While we, the fans, certainly love Garcia, we also love Jennifer Jareau and Emily Prentiss and feel that this show cannot go on in such a state. It is a travesty of modern society that a network would make such a blatantly sexist decision. Everywhere in the world, women are devalued for getting married, for taking our husbands' surnames, for having children, or for having only female children and no male children, or for simply being women...the list is long.

In 21st-century America, this kind of thing should not be allowed to happen. These two female characters are integral to Criminal Minds, not only as valuable members of the team of characters, but also as representatives of a population of strong working women in a field which is still primarily male-dominated.

If CBS goes ahead with this decision, it will surely lose much of the show's fan base (just look at the online response to this story wherever it is printed) and one of its best money-making shows will no longer be so.

Shame on you.

    • As much as it kills me to say this, there is absolutely no way that I am going to be able to watch the show anymore if you axe the two female characters. They bring the heart into the show and they are what make it so amazing. Do you want to lose hundreds of viewers? Do you want your ratings to go down? Do you want your dvd sales to drop? Obviously the answers to these questions are NO. You need to review your choice. Why are you getting rid of chatacters that have been there the longest? Why does Joe Mantagne get to stay, even though he brings nothing to the show? His character is almost exactly like that of Thomas Gibson, so he obviously is not needed! You seriously need to review your options before you go through with this as you are seriously shooting yourself in the foot by doing this!

    • This decision comes across as horribly sexist and offending to any fan of the show. These fantastic characters and actresses are not expendable and this travesty can ultimately cause me to stop watching the show and buying the DVDs.

    • What. the. heck. Are CBS insane? They can't cut AJ and limit Paget's screentime, that would seriously make me like the show less, I love all the characters, and if they do this I will be seriously angry. KEEP AJ AND PAGET!!!!!!

    • Why would you reduce the CM cast by getting rid of the female members. I have watched the show from the very first episode. AJ Cook has been a part of the show since the beginning so why would you want to get rid of her. She brings compassion & realism to her character. If you get rid of AJ & Paget, I will not be watching & I hope that you lose a very large number of viewers. Just remember CBS, without the viewers the CBS channel would not be what it currently is. I really am disgusted by this.
