We, the undersigned, are of the view that as a matter of principle and philosophy, the President and CEO of CNIB should be a client of CNIB or, at the very least, a person who is blind, deaf-blind, or partially sighted.

- I strongly believe that executive positions within the CNIB organization should be occupied by qualified individuals who are blind of have a "visual impairment;" this is a simple way to ensure due attention is paid to the lived experience of the clients of the CNIB

- I feel the CNIB's decision to not hire a blind person as Executive Director is extremely appalling. Who better to represent an agency for the blind then another blind, visually Impaired or deaf blind person!!

- If CNIB opens up the position of President and CEO to the general population, then that will be the end of the CNIB as an organization for blind and headed up by a blind person. The qualification that the president and CEO must be blind, gives credibility to the existence of the CNIB.

- The president/CEO of CNIB should remain a client. The holder of the position needs to have an understanding as well as a clear idea of what services are provided and how they work. Removing that qualification is not only a step backward, but it is a slap in the face of every existing CNIB client who is represented by the CNIB president/CEO. I find myself being offended that the qualification is even being considered being removed.

- I think to better understand the needs of someone with vision loss the CEO needs to be able to identify with the population he/she is trying to serve
