Coventry's Memorial Park has become a focal point in our city for cultural festivals and events. The Godiva Festival, in particular, regularly attracts more than 60,000 visitors each year, making a valuable contribution both to our local economy and the vibrancy of our city. Residents of the Memorial Park's local vicinity have long campaigned for this small number of festivals to be stopped, claiming 'noise and nuisance' as their reasons. We do not agree that the events held at The Memorial Park cause any undue or additional noise or nuisance to the local residents on the very few days each year they are held. Furthermore, we believe that Coventry's Memorial Park exists for the use of ALL of the people of Coventry. The Godiva Festival is a highlight in the city's cultural calendar, whose benefits to the wider population of the city far outweigh the somewhat questionable case of a very small minority. As such, festivals and events like The Godiva Festival should be protected and continue unhindered and unrestricted.

    • The godiva festival is an essential cultural event which by showcasing local music talent alongside nationally established music acts, also encourages people from inside and outside Coventry to visit local music venues. This not only promotes art and culture but also stimulates the local economy and jobs. This is far to important to be prevented by a small number of people who have the good fortune to live by the Memorial Park.

    • The godiva festival is the jewel in the crown for the outstanding local music scene. It is something coventry should be very,very proud of. There has never been any trouble or violence at this event. It should be celebrated not condemned.

    • the memorial park is for everybody's use, we all pay council tax for its upkeep and a couple of days festivities in the year in a city that lacks cultural events should be encouraged and not disputed by local unsupportive residents.

    • The festival provides so much pleasure for such a wide range of people, both local & new visitors for the town. The dates are well publicised, surely if people find they are distrupted by the music they could plan to do something different that weekend, or come along, it's free & there's something for everyone!
