We, the undersigned residents of Glen Ellyn living on Crescent Boulevard and the surrounding areas respectfully request the County of DuPage and the Village of Glen Ellyn to extend the sidewalk from the existing sidewalk along the south side of Crescent Boulevard, located east of Glenbard West High School, to include, at the very least, the incorporated property at 21W302 Crescent Boulevard in Glen Ellyn.

The combination of the lack of a shoulder in many segments, the speed at which vehicles travel, and the curvy nature of the road makes Crescent Boulevard a significant safety hazard and has been in need of a sidewalk for years, as many young individuals walk or ride bikes to and from Glenbard West High School, businesses in Downtown Glen Ellyn, and Churchill Woods Forest Preserve. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

    • We would like to see the sidewalk extended all the way to the Churchill Woods Forest Preserve. We see bicyclists - including children, joggers/runners, dog walkers, mothers with strollers, cross country skiers, etc. all struggling along the side of Crescent Blvd. attempting to get from their homes or school to the forest preserve and beyond. The shoulder of the road is quite dangerous due to the amount of traffic on Crescent and the lack of a sidewalk. We would like to see a sidewalk installed before someone gets injured or potentially killed along this road. We also believe installing a sidewalk would improve the "walkability score" of the Village of Glen Ellyn which is one of the many factors people choose a city to reside in and do business in.
