To Whom It May Concern:
Throughout the second half of season nine, there has been an inbalance with character involvement in the most recent storylines. While we do understand that new characters need a chance to develop, we feel that older characters, played by Eric Szmanda, George Eads, and Marg Helgenberger, particularly Eric Szmanda, have not received the credit they deserve for years of dedication to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. There are many members of the audience who feel that Eric Szmanda has been extremely patient for the second of this season, as he has been the one most underrepresented, and yet portrays a characters who is one of the most loved, ever since his time as an occasional guest star. One particular example is the 200th episode, Mascara. The storyline featured only Laurence Fishburne's new character, and barely touched on those who are the reason fans kept watching and bringing the show to 200 episodes.
For many of us, extending beyond those who have signed this petition, the reason we continue to watch CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is because of the characters we have watched from the beginning, and we do not appreciate having the newest character being the constant center of attention. We understand that new characters need a certain amount of time to develop, however this should not be at the expense of established characters who the audience have grown to know and love. We would love to see the new characters develop, but this should not be forced right away. It should take time like the older characters, who still have areas they need to develop in on their own.
We would love to continue to watch your program for years to come, and hope you give the opinions of the long-term audience your full consideration.

- I respect Laurence Fishburne and think he's a great addition to the cast of CSI, but I do think the others need their time to shine too. Way too much focus on LF at the moment!

- I think it's ridiculous that Dr Langston was sent into the field on his first night; he had no experience or training and it was obviously a gimmick.

- As much as I like LF and realize that he needs to estiblish himself as a character I miss watching Marg, Eric and George, they, along with Paul and Robert David Hall are the reason i have kept watching CSI. Please bring those characters back to the limelight

- What's happened to the best show on CBS??? I want my CSI back! Give us better storylines that showcase the characters we know and love!!! Don't change a good thing just to suit a mediocre movie actor - you've had the best talent in the business from the get go!

- I admit I was pretty disappointed with the 200th episode. I thought the original cast should have had more time, and they could have made a brief mention about Grissom and Sara, as well as Warrick, in dedication to some of the best characters ever on CSI. I mean, it would have been great to have Catherine say that she couldn't help but miss the way things used to be, and even mention how much she missed Warrick (b/c you know she had feelings for him). And it'd be nice to have more realistic stories back on the show. Focus on forensics; not X-File-ish stortlines that could never happen. I know CSI won't always be on and won't always be the number one drama, but let's at least do our best to prolong its success. And PLEASE bring back Grissom and Sara for a visit soon. We all miss them sooooo much.
