Dear Mr. Shoukri,
Cupe 3903 has been officially on strike since Nov.6th,2008. As a result, the academic lives of more than 50000 students, including mine, have been deeply disrupted.
It is my understanding that, even after four weeks of striking, the administration has still refused to deal with the demands put forth by the membership of CUPE 3903 and has continued to insist on binding arbitration.
I feel that this position is irrational and should be revisited before more time is lost.
I ask you that you do whatever is in your power to end the strike and resume the learning process.
Issues of cost effectiveness and profit must not affect the process of knowledge production. We are, after all, an institution that produces scholarship and I believe it is about time that we start acting like one.
