Through out the 70's, 80's, 90's and early 2000 their use to be programmes created by the asian community that covered movie releases, interviews with famous bollywood stars, music, fashion, culture and food.

This gave an insight to non asian people about our culture and was a great way to educate people. A typical sunday morning on BBC 2 use to consist of 10:00-10:30 network east and then followed by a bollywood movie.

I'm sick and tired of seeing these british asian shows and Bollywood movies on at night. It should be on at daytime so everyone can see it. Everybody is allways talking about how the british asian culture is opening up in the western market. Then why dont western channels like BBC open it up so everyone can see it like they did in the past.

BBC 2 use to be pretty diverse in the last 30 years but in the last few years it's for some reason decided to take a back seat. Therefore i'm urging everyone to sign this petition to bring back the asian sunday morning slot to BBC 2.

    • Please bring these back. The non-Asian public are missing out on so much as there is very little or no access to Bollywood films for people like myself. These are great films and would help people to understand more about the Indian culture. I have certainly learnt an awful lot about India and its people which I never knew before by watching these films and I feel that I understand them better now.

    • If Britain is regarded as a multi-cultural society then its mainstream television should reflect that!

    • i absolutely agree. diversity needs to be celebrated. i know so many british youngsters who just love bollywood films but have only managed to see 1 or 2 due to the fact they are shown at times like 3am! at a time where the british population often feels isolated from the minorities living here and vice versa, celebrating culture rather than focusing on religion war debates etc. could bring us togethor rather than push us apart. i can speak on behalf of a lot of young people when i say bollywood needs to be further promoted. the asian community has so much to offer and it would be a shame if this is not fully embraced!
