We believe UK government regulator, Sport England, should recognise darts as a sport in the UK. We also urge governments worldwide to recognise the game as a bona fide sport.
Darts is a game of skill with huge global support. It requires physical endurance, dexterity, skill and hand-eye coordination at the highest level. It is also a sport which can be enjoyed on an equal footing by men, women and children, the young, the old and people of disability. It is also a sport with a low cost-of-entry, making it widely accessible to a huge population.
History shows that darts emerged from an English law that required regular practice at using the bow, meaning that darts is itself derived from another skill that is now recognised as a sport.
For these reasons and more we urge Sports England to recognise our game as a sport in hope of global recognition for darts.

- Darts deserves to be recognised as a sport, It's only a smaller version of archery after all, and it's part of our sporting heritage..

- Darts requires skill, dexterity, commitment, coordination and more. I believe it should be recognised as a sport, as other sports require equal levels of commitment. It's affordable and crosses many boundaries.

- The game should be classed as a sport as I know I practice for hours daily. As for drink being one of the reasons for it not being a sport, I am one of several players that dont drink at all.

- forgot my comments on the previous..... I find it difficult to think of any sportsmen/women who dont drink.use illegal substances to enhance their performance etc. I also do not think many sportspeople at the top of their profession train as much as serious dart players. Darts needs skill.mental and physical fitness.and a huge amount of training to reach the top. When did a professional footballer train up to 8 hours a day every day as many darters do/

- When you look at other things that are recognised as a sport when Darts isn't, it really does make you wonder what you have to do to get the recognition it deserves.

- If solely exclusive US sports such as basketball and pointless sports such as team freestyle diving are sports then surely darts must be thrown in there too!
