A source speaking on condition of anonymity says that the Detroit Shock are moving to Tulsa to play in the BOK Center, as has been reported in the Detroit Free Press and the Tulsa World.
What the WNBA doesn't know is that they're leaving behind one of their more successful franchises, which has bred several superstars and at points has played better than their brother team the Pistons...At the 2006 WNBA Finals deciding game, moved to Joe Louis Arena (because of the Palace's booking conflict) the Shock drew a women's pro ball record of 22,076 to see them win their second of three titles. Even this past year, they drew 8,004 fans-good for fifth place in the league (especially in perhaps the biggest victim city of the USA's economy woes)
So, the support is there-but unfortunately, so are the shenanigans. We, therefore, urge the WNBA to make sure the Shock name, logo, colors, and history (including its three WNBA titles) stays behind in Detroit, and that they work as hard as they can to make sure that Detroit gets a team again probably as soon as the 2011 WNBA season! Then you'll once again see what a great sports city Detroit can be!

- I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN... WETHER TO START AT HOW MUCH LOVE I PUT INTO THE SHOCK AND INTO BASKETBALL OR HOW MUCH I'M ASHAMED AT WHO'S IN CHARGE FOR LETTING ALL THE FANS DOWN ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY'VE STUCK BEHIND THEM IN THE VERY BEST OF TIMES AND THE VERY WORST... SO I'LL LEAVE IT AT THIS... WHO EVER IS IN CHARGE OF THIS LITTLE GAME BECAUSE THEY WANT MONEY, NEEDS TO THINK OF WHAT'S IMPORTANT... THE LEGACY THEY'VE LEFT AND THE FANS!!!

- I cannot believe Mrs D is betraying the city and the Shock fans in such a manner. The economy forced us to give up our Piston tickets due to a job loss and now the Palace ownership is taking away the other team we love. You know what they say about karma.

- i was very mad and sad when i heard this, i grew up with this franchise and i love it to death! Every summer my mom and I would spend quality time with each other at some of the games...it was becoming a yearly thing that i would look forward to! It breaks my heart they are gone from Detroit. I loved that team and always will. I even admit I bawled my eyes out....i just want them back in Detroit!

- Please keep the Shock in Detroit. The thought of losing theShock is very sad. I went to almost every home game and 1 away game this year. I don't want to lose the Shock. Please keep them here where they belong. Think of all the hard work that went into making the Shock champions. The Shock is wondeful for families, kids and the community as well. They are more than just a basketball team.
