  • Every year my sister and her husband come all the way from the upper peninsula for their anniversary and every year I drive from grand rapids to visit the zoo. It is a great zoo and it would be devistating for it to close its doors. Theres so much negativity associated with Detriot its the one place with people can bring their children and see beauty and nature instead of violence.

  • We have nothing in this city, they (the politicians) are trying to take eveything away from the residents ... c'mon we live like dogs. Now the zoo is next ? Don't close the Zoo !!!!! I don't care what it takes or how much money it takes to keep it running, I am sure that the state has plenty of millions to keep that running. City of Detroit: don't find an excuse to close everything down, ask the state and Pres Bush !! They got plenty of money to open 100 more zoos. Thanks !!

  • To flee a horrid, abusive life, I left MI with my mom and younger siblings 16 years ago. The zoo is one of the few places I have fond memories of and it is very dear to me. At night and more than 25 years later, I still dream of the aviary. You will be doing a tragic injustice should this zoo close. Don't cancel these precious memories for future generations.

  • The Detroit Zoo has been there my whole life and is an attribute to Michigan. Not only will this culture be missing if you close the Zoo but the animals will have to find new homes too.It would be a hassle and you would be taking a valued attraction away in Michigan.
