DeviantART is a diverse artists' community. There are people of all cultures, religions, ethnicities and political views and nearly every day these views clash in a positive and informative manner. The whole point of DeviantART is to be a community where artists of diverse backgrounds can interact.

DeviantART recently has had a question of Freedom of Speech. Petitions have gone around in attempt to ban certain symbols and beliefs from this site. What people do not seem to realize is that as DeviantART is based in America it is also under American law, which clearly states in Amendment 1 of the Bill of Rights,

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

In support of this statement this petition has been created and hopefully with enough signatures we can continue to be an open-minded and free art community.

- I just got an email from Illusions regarding this petition and I have to agree with all of you, we can't allow a bigoted group such as antifascists to take away the rights of other people simply because they have a different opinion from someone else. We can't let our enemies take us down for our beliefs!

- The deviantArt community falls under the law of the United State. Therefor, justification for banning "holocaust denial" or nationalist symbols is as valid an argument as that no woman's photograph should be caught upon camera unless she is wearing a headscarf; one may go so far as to have all wearing the color blue banned from photography because it is viewed as disrespectful in some cultures. Freedom of speach as long as you are "right" is a complete lack thereof -- you can not judge something so subjective.

- The reason I sign this petition is that although I do not agree with Holocaust Denial or National Socialism in general I find that the supporters of this AntiFascist group are just as bad. If you didn't agree with the man who was banned then stand and fight your corner and prove him wrong through argument. That said, this is an art community and censorship is anathema to art. Now that it has started where will it end?

- Freedom for Everyone, or Freedom For None. A nhilist would say that in the constitution the clause about the government not endorsing religion, is grounds to take "in God we trust" out of everything. But when you think of it, you have to have God being the one who is granting us our inalieable freedoms, because if you have a Man grant your freedom, another man can take it away. Freedom to say there is no god, but to not enforce that as truth. It's a double edged sword, but thats how you have to ascribe to it.
