The Devon and Mason Friendship Law:

I, Wendy Armstrong, mother of Devon Anthony Donald Tinus, and I, Doris Armstrong, the grandmother of Devon Anthony Donald Tinus, are creating this petition in honour of Devon and Mason, and to all those friendships that have been tragically killed by drunk drivers :

Devon Anthony Donald Tinus and Mason Eugene Berube were killed on March 13, 2009 by a drunk driver speeding excessively and carelessly on Westdel Bourne Road. The drunk driver disregarded the stop at the intersection and slammed into Mason's fathers pickup, carrying and killing; Devon, Mason, and Mason's pet dog Hershey (they were trying to return home from a London Knights hockey game on Longwoods Road). Mason's father Jason Berube sustained horrendous injuries, causing an extremely lengthy and painful recovery after multiple surgeries. Andrew Kummer, Dave Marshall and Randy Psaila, had all been drinking extremely high amounts of alcohol all day. Devon and Mason were "BEST FRIENDS". The drunk driver also killed his "Childhood Best Friend", Dave Marshall. HENCE:

We ask that you read this carefully, before signing, as this may one day affect your lives as well:

We the undersigned therefore agree to petition the federal government to introduce legislation that would set in place a minimum sentence of ten years in federal prison; for those found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing death. This petition is to fight for the right to create a new law against these people who drink and drive without any regard to others.
