We, the signatories below, wish it be known that we whole heartedly support the plans to develop the land to the north of Hallamford Rd on the outskirts of Shepshed.
We welcome these plans for two 18 hole international standard golf courses complete with academy and 400 room hotel, also to include an event/ conference centre.
We feel the development would benefit the town and surrounding area in terms of jobs, raising the towns profile and benefiting the local economy.
We believe it would also enhance the towns image whilst providing much needed sports and social facilities for all.

    • Please think about the positive and negative aspects of the development and please make an informed decision. To an outsider, this has not occurred. This could bring in a much needed generation of the area whilst proving much needed opportunities to local people, whom currently have a lack of opportunity to develop themselves as individuals, both in employment and within sport. This means that the vast majority of individuals who live, and like, Shepshed have to look else where to support a much needed active lifestyle and career. Aspects like traffic are not good reason to dismiss the idea. As traffic will increase as a result of the recent approval of Donnington Park Motor Racing Track receiving the Formula 1 in 2010, with three identified routes to Donnington falling within the Shepshed area. Whilst I do not want Shepshed to become the centre of the world, I do feel that careful consideration has to be made and very good arguments and points need to be put forward before the correct decision is made.

    • I support the Golf Course and Complex, Shepshed needs a kick up the arse and this project could be the catalyst for Shepsheds turnaround. The increase in visitors to the area will benefit the towns economy and anybody who says that it wont is basically talking rubbish. Most of the opposition use pathetic reasons for opposition and they also use the current occupant of the site as a reason not to build, which is a personal matter between that family and the developers. A golf course will not destroy the local environment, the last time saw a course it had lakes, grass, flowers and trees. You will still be able to walk your dogs in the woods and around the site. So I for one support the building of an International Standard Golf Course Complex.

    • It is about time Shepshed got somthing like this. Just take a look around Shepshed. We need something to attract people to come to Shepshed, as well as something for the population of Shepshed. Why should we have to travel to Loughborough or coalville, when we can have our own facility here for everyone to use. I fully support this project.
