This petition is directed towards the Pine Rivers Shire Council. The signatures listed in this petition consitute persons who believe that Lakeside International Raceway should be re-opened, and racing allowed at the circuit.
Established in the 1961, Lakeside is the home of motorsport in Queensland, having twice held the Australian Grand Prix as well as club level, national, and internation events.
We believe that circuit should be opened once again, providing financial benefits to the region, the prospect of increased tourism to the area, and making our roads safer by providing a place to legally race motor vehicles.

- With the demise of Lakeside as a motor racing venue, Qld Motorsport has suffered as a whole, with racing now restriced to Queensland Raceway - I hope the Pine Rivers Council can realise that the positives of having a motor racing circuit in the community, and decide to reopen the circuit.

- Please change your mindset on closing this circuit. These are national and state treasures/monuments even if they are a little bigger than a statue or a plaque. Brooklands in the UK was turned into (well 90% of it) a shopping mall 7 years ago and everyone regrets this now because you can make money from national treasures as the Brooklands Society now is. In France more racing circuits are being built, not shut down. I know as we have opened our business in France, near Avignon in the south, at a brand spanking new circuit. Motorsport is here to stay. Consider yourselves lucky you have such a heritage site and facility for a growing interest and sport and a focal meeting point for your community.

- I have been visiting Lakeside as a spectator and a club member participant since the 1960's and believe it is one of the great racetracks of Australia. I believe that an historic venue such as Lakeside is needed for a young generation as well as older enthusiastics to enjoy their passion.
