Dear Staff Members of Electronic Gaming Monthly
Having seen this picture in the SOCOM II Game Guide article (p.42) by your Electronic
Gaming Monthly (hereafter E.G.M.); http://www.gunsnet.net/album/uploads//6673/f.jpg
and finding out that the original image depicted Russian soldiers holding photographs of their
friends lost in combat operations, I and all who sign this petition find this image and type of
advertisement is extremely disrespectful to all soldiers and actually anyone who has lost
friends in combat. This shows a great lack of judgement on the part of E.G.M. staff.
The original image: http://www.gunsnet.net/album/data//500/6673f2.jpg
Photograph of Russian Honour Guards remembering their fallen comrades during the ongoing
operations in Chechnya. A gallery of this conflict can be seen here:
http://www.pbase.com/igor01/chechnya
Please remove this image from your forums and any future publications of your magazine,
also it seems a formal apology is necessary in your future release(s) to signify you understand
the mistake and discomfort such an image presents.

- Quite tastless. Put yourself into the shoes of one of the soldiers who has lost someone. And see how you would feel having their face cropped over with a magazine cover. I know people who have fought and lost people in war. I can tell you now that a tribute to them that were to be ruined, it would recieve than a positive response.

- this image goes against everything those soldiers died for, and the memory the soldiers in the photo are trying to hold on to. you have a twisted sense of humor. the firing squad should be aiming at you editors.

- This is further indicative of a growing trend that treats the militaries of the world as targets of derision. "...A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."-John Stuart Mill. In summation, grow up.

- Defiling the memory of men who gave their lives for a cause just to make a video game look "OMG O SO KEWL" is extremely uncalled for (and this coming from a serious gamer, too).
