Petition to Save the Electronic Cigarette

In the course of human events, it becomes clear that one must take action. Today, our voices will be heard. Our declaration.

WHEREAS: There are over 40 million smokers in the United States and

WHEREAS: of whom, most try to quit smoking and

WHEREAS: of those who quit, approximately 10\% are successful using conventional FDA approved Nicotine Replacement Therapies and

WHEREAS: we find that current NRTs ineffective and

WHEREAS: over 400,000 people will die in the United States alone due to smoking related illness and

WHEREAS: today, we have a technology that will save millions of lives and

WHEREAS: this device is known as an Electronic Cigarette and

WHEREAS: large corporate and governmental interests are looking to ban these life saving devices to protect their financial gains on smokers, and not due to public health concerns, and

WHEREAS: by using lies and deceit by organizations such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the dangerous orginazation Action on Smoking and health (ASH) to instill unsubstantiated fear in the public and

WHEREAS: over $300 Billon will be lost by Big Pharmacuticals, Anti Smoking Groups such as ASH, the government, and Big tgobacco, due to this life saving device and

WHEREAS: these organizations are putting public health at risk by taking this irrational action to protect their bottom lines,

WE THE UNDERSIGNED, DATED THE 16th DAY OF AUGUST, IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2009, hearby make our voices heard. It is time for the madness to stop and people be accountable for their actions. We, the undersigned, will not stand by and watch ASH, the FDA, or any organization, place the almighty dollar over the interests of public health.

    • ASH gives us two options.. quit or die.. They never consider a third option, and see that people are not fit to live if they enjoy nicotine. They are an extremist organization and have grown out of control. How can anyone side with an organization that promotes such ideology as ASH does? It is time to take a stand against the fundamentalists. They should not have the authority to say who can and can not live!!

    • I will sign any petition on the face of the earth if it will help keep electronic cigarettes available. If they should ever become unavailable I will have to go back to smoking cigarettes again. And while that is the last thing in the world I want to do, it is without question the very first thing I will do. But would have to pry my electronic cigarette out of my cold dead hands first.

    • It is my right to choose an alternative to tobacco. It is also my right to continue smoking, especially if my smoking habit no longer affects anyone around me. It is my right as an American to live FREE. Telling me what I can and cannot do for my own health is not right nor is it their right to do so. Please do not ban the ecig so I do not have to convert back to tobacco completely!

    • E-cigs are saving my life. Patches, gum, even the inhaler -- didn't help. E-cig was instant transformation. Haven't regretted it. ASH doesn't really care about our health, they just exist to vilify and continue accepting funds from Pfizer and other "friends" of theirs. Little of their fluff is factual.

    • It is amazing how our civil liberties are being slowly taken away from us like this. I've been using the electronic cigarette for at least a year and have had no problems with it. So what is the problem? Monet, that's the problem. They can't get their cut on it. We all know this.
