Dubuque Iowa Storage of Vehicles Ordinance

The Zoning Committee requested $200 in order to change Dubuque County's STORAGE OF VEHICLES ordinance. We, the undersigned, are seeking to change several points;

1) $750 PER DAY FINE (Seven Hundred Fifty USD PER DAY) is unreasonable, which does not include court costs, lawyer fees, or the $50 (Fifty USD) appeal fee.

2) MAXIMUM NUMBER OF VEHICLES allowed to be stored should be limited by driveway space, instead of the current allowance of 1 (one) vehicle per residential lot.

3) An "INOPERABLE VEHICLE" should not be defined as "not displaying current state registration" if license plates were given to the courthouse and registration displays a "storage stamp" in a previous year.

    • Vehicles parked/stored on my own property, on a paved driveway, in my backyard, away from the street should be mine to do with as I please. This ordinance is intrusive and should be illegal to enforce, without a serious rewrite.

    • Susan Brennan has been after me for many years. I have a hobby, it is older automobiles. I'm trying to keep old cars alive. What gives the city of dubuque the right to tell me what I can and can not have on MY property. Last Sept. year I started my own auto repair shop, Susan brennan has shut that down because the facility I was renting she finds it to be r-1 not c-1. OK the law is the law, But we need to change the law! This lady has giving me no other choose but to help out this cause. I'll do all I can to help this petition. Everyone who reads this petiton needs to voice your opinion. We the people need to stand up for our rights as AMERICANS. Don't let all the politicans take this away from us WORKING AMERICANS!
