  • East of Eden is my favorite James Dean film. Because Dean only was in three major films, releasing this film on DVD should be a priority. As the film is only presently available in a pan & scan VHS, a DVD release would allow it to be seen in its original widescreen format, an important asset as the film was originally shot in cinemascope. In addition to Dean, the film is also notable as for being directed by Elia Kazan (On the Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire) and for being an adaptation of a John Steinbeck novel. The names Dean, Kazan, and Steinbeck should be enough to convince anyone that this an important film. Please release it soon.

  • This is a movie that has been ruined by the pan and scan version over the years on VHS. It was directed by Kazan as a widescreen movie, and many scenes of great beauty and importance are lost through the pan and scan method. This MUST go on DVD so we can see it as the director intended it to be seen!
