NOTE: This petition is not against the new points/card program at Walgreens, but supports the programs being run together with NO alterations to Register Rewards. Any change in the Register Rewards program- in amount or items offered-is not supported by the below signed.
WE DO NOT WANT THE NEW PROGRAM TO REPLACE REGISTER REWARDS.
Walgreens's new program is in beta in select markets.
How the beta program work:
You earn 300 points for every 90-day eligible prescription you fill. For all other items you earn 10 points for every $1 you spend.
Meaning:
(2000 points for a $5.00 Walgreens gift certificate, 3000 points for Amazon and other gift cards, etc.)
*When we spend $1.99, it rounds down to 19 points NOT up to 20 . (According to Walgreens insider)
Question about program
1.How do coupons affect the total spent? Theoretically, you should get points on the total *before* coupons, but we'll have to test that out.
According to those in the test area- account not confirmed by Walgreens:
I live in Portland and today was told that the RR are done at the end of the month. The points are replacing it. The ad I got this morning had a wrap-around part that talked about the new program and it said that members only pricing was starting May 30th. I am bummed, but it is their store and their choice. It seems that they are making a lot of items worth more points (not just 10 per dollar)- for example, the Aleve that has a $2 RR in other areas does not have a RR in my ad. It has 400 bonus points for buying it. Other items have 2x the points or 3x the points. I hope that they will give a lot of bonus points for the items that we used to get RR for. I am not sure how much I will be shopping there because the RR allowed me to spend very little OOP. I can not afford to spend much OOP just to get points. -Annette on Hip2save

- Keep the Register Rewards or wil go back to walmart!!!!!!!! Never used Walgreens unitl I found out about RR - there is no advantage for me! CVS program sucks compared to RR!!!! Limit people to 2 transactions per day!

- I prefer the RRs because they are easier to keep track of. I don't want to start to figure out how many point an item costs. Too complicated.

- I never used to shop at Walgreens. I always considered Walgreens to be over priced, and I only picked up a script here and there from them. About a year ago I learned about Walgreens RR program from a friend of mine. I now shop at Walgreens anywhere from 1 to 3 times a week. I really would not be there without it. I never was before, and won't be if it is not there. I hope that you will consider keeping the RR program in place the way that it is. I think that you will lose a lot of business if you take it away.
