Accessible, adult community-education programmes help to build an inclusive society that promotes the wellbeing of its people. They bring us together as New Zealanders. These community services are also vital recovery partners for many people with experience of mental-health problems.
Cutting funds to such a vital sector of our national community will have serious, negative consequences for a large portion of the country.
We, the undersigned, strongly urge you. Protect our community-education services. Nurture our creative programmes. Enhance our language services and our personal development services.

- For those in the community who use these locally provided courses, either for personal growth or a step ito more formal education, cutbacks to Community Education will without a doubt, be a devastating loss.

- This is of vital importance and I would hope seriously at reinvesting in this sector. Community Adult Education is an important part of the diverse fabric of our society. The monetary amount that is being supposedly saved does not in any way reflect the worth of what will be lost. Please reconsider, Community Adult Education is a real link for people using Health services to re-engage with their communities and gain new skills and confidence to develop and gain employment.

- This will impact on all levels of our community... As for many people Community Education is the only option for many and also the only "life line" with the community at large".. This will directly impact socially in new zealand for generations to come.

- As a health professional working with an extensive, deprived clientele, of which the majority either do not have English as a first language, or are born to parents who did not have English as their first language, I can attest to the importance of community educational outreach in terms of both individual well-being and arguably a reduction in the amount of long term social welfare outlays consumed by such recipients.
