We, the undersigned, denounce and condemn Jerry Falwell for using the tragedy of September 11th to further his own extremist agenda. Jerry Falwell has openly and publicly blamed the recent terrorist attacks on the ACLU, NOW, People for the American Way, gays, lesbians, abortion providers, pagans and feminists. Even worse, he has done so under the guise of being a "religious leader".

The tragedy that befell our country on September 11th came about because of fanaticism and hatred. We believe that hate-filled fanatics like Jerry Falwell are a danger to our country and to the freedom and well being of people across the world.

The innocent people who were killed on September 11th died because of hate. We call upon our political leaders, as well as all true religious and moral leaders, to join us in condemning Jerry Falwell's despicable and ugly remarks. An article about Falwell's statements can be read here.

    • The idea that opportunists like these two extremists would take advantage of this horrible act to add to their own coffers disgusts me. This is not what America should be about. At a time when we should be coming together, they are driving us apart.

    • For men who profess to follow the teachings of Christ, a man who accepted everyone regardless of their choices ( case in point Mary Magdalene), these two "supposed" religious leaders are no better than the men who wage terrorist attacks against us in the name of their religion. They have no tolerance for freedoms and choices and neither do Falwell and Robertson. They are bigoted and hypocritical.

    • Comments such as his help break our country into fragments, rather than unify our nation at this trying time. He should have strived to help our people with their grief, shock, and fear rather than make such politically loaded opinions.

    • You are a hate monger no different than our enemies. You cause strife and misery in our own country. I know you will answer to God someday. You truly are an ignorant man and very dangerous. I will pray for you. I have Christ as my saviour and know God loves me unconditionally.

    • In my opinion he has no right to promote hate against pagans, gays, lesibians, abortionist, and the ACLU. He does have the right for free speech just like very other american. But being in the public eye he has a responsibility to be socially and policatically correct. Even if he does not like someones beliefs or sexual orientation. He should not open his mouth to make statements that will cause more hate crimes etc. He should not hide like a coward behind God and the bible. I am a Gnostic / Pagan and proud of it. Mr. Falwell needs to remember that this awesome country was based on our freedoms. And it is my religious freedom to be Gnostic/Pagan. I have total recognization by the United States Of Ameirica. God Bless America. One last thing I am sure Mr. Falwell would take offense at my actions and statements if I were to say in public, "If it weren't for all the christians who are narrow minded spouting off about hell fire. Then these terrioist actions would have never happened in the U. S."
