We, the undersigned, denounce and condemn Jerry Falwell for using the tragedy of September 11th to further his own extremist agenda. Jerry Falwell has openly and publicly blamed the recent terrorist attacks on the ACLU, NOW, People for the American Way, gays, lesbians, abortion providers, pagans and feminists. Even worse, he has done so under the guise of being a "religious leader".
The tragedy that befell our country on September 11th came about because of fanaticism and hatred. We believe that hate-filled fanatics like Jerry Falwell are a danger to our country and to the freedom and well being of people across the world.
The innocent people who were killed on September 11th died because of hate. We call upon our political leaders, as well as all true religious and moral leaders, to join us in condemning Jerry Falwell's despicable and ugly remarks. An article about Falwell's statements can be read here.

- What a blasphemy in the face of God. Falwell's religion is greed, self-righteousness and self promotion. He should be in federal prison as an enemy of the state. His clarification rings hollow as he still allows Gary Bauer's words to inflame on his web page. Burn in hell, Jerry Falwell. May God have mercy on your soul.

- People like Jerry Falwell have taken a religion based in love and forgiveness and turned it into a platform for hate.

- In the dark times following a disaster of any kind the religious leaders of this country and, indeed, of the world should come together to lead their people through such a trying time. Jerry Falwell has shown himself to be the precise antithesis of a religious leader time and again. This atrocious statement of ignorance, hatred, and intolerance secures his position as an enemy of all that is good and spiritual. I pray that his congregation does not follow him down this self-destructive path. And I pray that the victims of this catastrophic event do not lose heart and hope because they are subjected to this fundamentalist vehemence. Let us remember that fanatics and hate-mongers not very different from Falwell were the very terrorists who destroyed so many lives on that Black Tuesday.

- This is wrong, flat wrong. That this can get by, especially now that our president has called for solidarity and unity among our people. I am outraged that Falwell would use this horrible tragedy as an excuse to start a private holy war. Doesn't Christianinty teach tolerance?

- i cant believe what i am reading. in this time of crisis in the usa a man would come forward, a man in a chritian capacity, ( or so he says) and makes this sort of statement. i find him no better than the terrorist that have done this to our great nation. this is nothing more than narrow minded , blinded, evil person that could say this. the people that did this are satin himself. mr falwell you need to drop to your knees and beg our dear forgiving lord for him to have mercy on your soul. at this time our sites should be set on healing, helping each other, praying for our leaders and our military. mr. falwell, look into your soul you will see its blackend with prejudice. lord have mercy on your soul. i pity people like you that live life with such a cold heart. i will pray for you mr.fawell you need all you can get.

- The underlying enemy we're fighting is religious fanaticism. It is blasphemous to hide behind religion to justify the hatred Falwell is inciting. Hatred in the name of God is one of main ingredients of terrorism, and he and Robertson ought to have the plug pulled from their program as long as we're at war.

- Pagans have undergone hate since the beginning of christianity...we have been murdered, condemed, discriminated against, and just as the world is beginning to open her eyes to us once again, narrow minded people like Jerry Falwell treat us like a minority!! If he were half the person his religion proclaims him to be, he would publically apologize to PAGANS too! We are not the blame!

- This is precisely the kind of extremism that the terrorists practiced. Only love can conquer hate Mr. Fallwell. Not your diatribes under the guise of Religion in pursuit of worldly power and wealth.
