We, the undersigned, denounce and condemn Jerry Falwell for using the tragedy of September 11th to further his own extremist agenda. Jerry Falwell has openly and publicly blamed the recent terrorist attacks on the ACLU, NOW, People for the American Way, gays, lesbians, abortion providers, pagans and feminists. Even worse, he has done so under the guise of being a "religious leader".

The tragedy that befell our country on September 11th came about because of fanaticism and hatred. We believe that hate-filled fanatics like Jerry Falwell are a danger to our country and to the freedom and well being of people across the world.

The innocent people who were killed on September 11th died because of hate. We call upon our political leaders, as well as all true religious and moral leaders, to join us in condemning Jerry Falwell's despicable and ugly remarks. An article about Falwell's statements can be read here.

    • Falwell is an extremist, who supports hatred and violence against innocent people. He is no different than the terrorists who have committed these terrible acts. Why ANYONE would give this man the time of day is beyond me.

    • Falwell should read his Bible instead of denouncing those he doesn't agree with. He might stumble across a verse that says something about loving one's neighbor.

    • How dare Jerry Falwell take this time to divide the people, instead of doing what a religious leader should do. That is bring all the people together, of all beleifs and race. It is never a good time to do any type of discrimination, but now is definitely not the time or place. I stand by all americans, no matter what thier belief system or race is. I ask all people to do the same. What he has done is wrong.

    • We need to come together, not be torn apart. God is "mad" at us and therefore unleashes this kind of horror? I'm glad I'm not Christian, then.

    • He is wrong in all things that he has said, also I think he needs to read his history better. The very last time we werre attacked on American soil was Pearl Habor. I am outraged of what he has said and I sincerely hope he is taken off the air.

    • The "REV" Falwell's comments and actions are nothing less than an act of terrorism against the people of a grieving nation spoken with the intent of turning the country in upon itself.

    • I condemn the outrageous remarks made by Jerry Falwell regarding Tuesday's tragedy. If I were a self-righteous fundamentalist conservative bigot who anointed myself the grand high queen of passing judgment on everyone who didn't agree with my views, I'd say that there's a special place in hell for Mr. Falwell and those of his ilk. I'm not in charge of judging everyone else, however; somehow that quality was left out of my genetic makeup. My sincere condolences to all of those affected by the devastating attacks on Tuesday. I am utterly heartsick.

    • falwell is only fueling the hatred of those who organized this act of destruction, but also the hatredof those who have no tolerance of those that do not have his beliefs. In many ways, he is condoning such acts, by creating hatred for those of a different belief system, or against those who are different. Falwell needs to learn the compassion that his God has for ALL PEOPLE, and not just for the "chosen few".
