    • All India needs now is spoiling the reps of IITs and IIMs and churning out engineers and managers with dubious capabilities. The IITs do not prevent the admission of people from backward classes, u just jave to clear the jee. If u cant do that, not even IITs can make u intellig(a)nt. I find the notion- if i prosper, the country prospers very amusing. By that logic, I think I should be made the PM of India. The govt.is just taking the easy way out by not developing primary education and offering IIt seats as sops.

    • people who have been facing the injustice since the education process started that only higher caste people have the right to be educated not them......for more than 1000 of years they were in dark...now when after Dr.B.R.Ambedkar made the constitution..for 50yrs only..they are being faciliated with this reservation..so that the major part of india's population to come forward and help the motherland to go ahead side by side with the world..how can a country develope when its major part of people are still in dark...to all my friends(higher caste) who have a pinch of heart alive...let them come forward who had been betrayed for years.

    • Yes Surely. But this cannot be at IITs until the students acquire the required grade. It should start at good schools, where "resrved" students get to compete and learn. Once they are ready and of the same mettle, they go to MIT - why IIT?. Imagine just because we want, cannot send them to Olympics with say - 15sec for 100m race and feel proud of some irrelevant achievement. I will not just support, but can fund one good student who needs such upbringing.

    • Vikky, I guess you are gone mad. There is no reservation for so called upper caste as you stated in IIT/IIMs. Nobody stops anybody to study in IIT/IIMs. One just needs to perform and compete. Due to such reservation, so-called lower caste people are becoming handicap. And I am in favor of removing all (including SC/ST) reservations from all fields (not only education). I am highly in favor of financially supporting poor people, but caste should not be bar for this. Jai Hind !!!

    • I am son of a farmer from an economically backward village in UP. I have seen clearly the selection trend in IITs for students from villages. After the new restrictions (mainly attempts) by IITs, students from villages are the first casuality. They don't have any chance to clear JEE unless someone is 'Genius'. So this reservation bill should pass if these students have the right to dream of IITs for B.Tech course & The bill 'll pass... i know very well. I have made a valid assumption that most of the population of these Categories is still in villages.

    • I support reservation for backward people till all castes are at par. Reason: People from higher castes have enjoyed 100\% reservation for 3000 years for practical purposes. Even now a brahmin never competes for the position of the priest with a person of lower caster or for that matter any caste. Thats 100\% reservation ...isn't it?

    • [from rajeev]1) My father, a Genesist, explained about genes. It's a well known fact that practise makes man perfect. Generally, (in majority of cases) a business man's son will be good at business; an actors's son will be good at acting; A well built man's son will have a good body; That is, an (the so called) intelligent Brahmin's son will be intelligent. Not because he has special super natural powers. But because for generations together they have been well educated. These backward class people have no education for centuries. Generations together people didn't have any form of education. Naturally, their ability in education field deplished. Theire brains are not properly nourished for education. Now suddenly if you ask them to compete with everybody, how would they? Education is also an art which has to be mastered.

    • Reservations are necessary [from Rajeev] 2) Then I asked my Dad, why should I pay for the mistakes our forefathers have done? For this he gave an answer which is very difficult to put in words here. It's more about our IDENTITY. Who you are? Where you've come from? We all think about only ourselves. We need to have a broader view and a bigger picture. We can't seperate ourselves fom our forefathers. We can't say our forefathers are different entity altogether. If your father has taken a loan, isn't it your responsibility to repay it back in his absence? Ofcourse, some may say it isn't. They may say "My father took the loan and he should repay it, not me." I can't say anything about such people. If your forefathers had huge property, wouldn't you fight for your share in that. Wouldn't you think its your right to have it. So why this dual standards? You want only his positive things and you are not responsible for his negative deeds.

    • Reservations are necessary [from Rajeev]3) And to all those people who talk about country and country's growth. Tell me, what is a country. The geographical land in the map? No it's the people in it. And majority of the people are not from urban areas. You have to keep this in mind. All the people here are from urban areas. So you don't know the problems in villages. That is a differnt place altogether.

    • I don't need any reservation and will be happy to compete among 50 percent generals or even less. I have feelings for encouragement of those who have been always neglected by our ancestors saying lower caste or Achhut etc. Like wise you, many OBCs who are in creamy layers now also opposing the reservation, because they are now counted as generals.

    • \% should be reduced malpractice must be cared..............................Reservation \%age should be reduced may be 15\% for SC/ST and 15\% to OBCs and as for as SC/ST and OBCs are concerned the one who receive reservation benefit once during education should not get in JOB and vice versa. The creamy layer should also need to be introduced in SC/STs like OBCs. Dr. KR Narayan's daughter gets reservation on SC/ST backgrounds its ridiculous. Malpractice must be cared while talking for equality and uplift of society

    • I'll explain this with an example : Consider 2 families. One which is into wrestling for 5 generations and the other doesn't have any knowledge of wrestling. Now if you want both of them to have a competition and expect the 2nd guy to win, is it practical? Do you think giving him nice food and training will make him equal to the 1st guy?

    • If you know anything about horse races you can understand my point. The horse whose forefathers have won are expected to win. It's in the genes. Centuries together SC's and ST's have been suppressed. You need to give them an oppurtunity to rise. WHAT HAS HAPPENED FOR CENTURIES CANNOT BE SO EASILY CHANGED IN DECADES.

    • This is the only practical and monitorable way to undo an injustice meted through a thousand years. SC/ST/OBC students do not have any elders in their families to guide them. This disadvantage is therefore getting worse and worse.

    • Reservation should be given in Indian cricket team, tennis team etc. also! And why not amongst the film artists, directors etc? Any official sponsorship of nominations for international awards should be done strictly following the roster points as followed in govt departments.
